This Privacy Policy explains how NamJap ("we", "our", or "the app") handles your information. Please read it carefully before using the app.

1. Overview

NamJap is a mantra jap (recitation) counter. The app works fully offline, storing your counts on your device. If you choose to sign in, your counts and custom mantras are also backed up to our cloud database (Firebase / Google Cloud) so you can restore them on another device.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Without Signing In

If you don't sign in, all your data — mantra counts, custom mantras, language preference, and Sankalp goals — is stored only on your device using local storage (SharedPreferences). Nothing is sent to our servers.

2.2 If You Sign In

Signing in is optional, and available via Email/Password or Google Sign-In. When you sign in, we create an account record containing:

Email address
Display name and profile photo (if provided by Google Sign-In)
Sign-in provider (email or Google)
Account creation and last-login timestamps

We also sync the following to our cloud database (Cloud Firestore), scoped to your account:

Your mantra jap counts and mala-completion totals
Custom mantras you create (name, symbol, color, syllable count)
Your daily Sankalp goal and streak

If your custom mantra's name matches one another user already created, we may reuse an existing shared, anonymized entry (name and symbol only — no personal information, and not linked back to any individual account) to avoid storing duplicates.

2.3 Diagnostic Data

We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically collect crash reports and basic diagnostic data (such as device model, OS version, and app version) so we can identify and fix bugs. This data does not include your mantra counts or personal messages.

3. Permissions Requested

Permission	Why it is needed
`VIBRATE`	To give haptic feedback when you complete a mala.
`POST_NOTIFICATIONS`	To show your daily jap reminder notification.
`SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM` / `USE_EXACT_ALARM`	To deliver your daily reminder at the exact time you choose.
`RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED`	To re-schedule your daily reminder after your device restarts.
`INTERNET`	Required for sign-in, cloud sync, and crash reporting.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. Your account data and mantra counts are private to your account, except for the anonymized custom-mantra name/symbol described in section 2.2. We do not share your data with advertisers. NamJap does not currently display ads.

5. Third-Party Services

Firebase Authentication — manages sign-in (email/password and Google Sign-In).
Cloud Firestore — stores your synced counts and custom mantras.
Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash and diagnostic reports.
Google Sign-In — if you choose this sign-in method, Google shares your email, name, and profile photo with us per your consent at sign-in.

6. Children's Privacy

NamJap is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account or provided personal information through the app, please contact us so we can address the issue.

7. Data Security

Cloud data is stored in Firebase/Google Cloud infrastructure and protected by Firestore security rules that restrict each account's data to that account's own signed-in user. Data stored only on your device depends on your device's own security (screen lock, encryption, etc.).

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Local data: Uninstalling the app removes all data stored only on your device.
Cloud account data: To request deletion of your account and all associated cloud data, email jdsinroja777@gmail.com with the subject "Account Deletion Request." We will delete your data within 30 days and confirm by email. See the Support page for details.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
